A picturesque town with gift shops, cafes, antique and old world stores. A new chocolate and cake shop also has the town buzzing. Lawrence was New Zealand's first gold rush town and its history can be discovered in the local museum and information centre. Lawrence is in the Clutha region which has stunning walks, waterfalls and the unique Cathedral Caves which are one of the longest sea caves in the world.
Starting at Lawrence this 2 day bike ride links with the Roxburgh Gorge trail and then joins the popular central Otago Rail Trail at Alexandra. There are many sections to enjoy if you decide to break up the trip. I know all the best accommodation spots along the way so happy to help plan your trip.
